Meet Dooley on the Farm is part of the fabulous Penguin Random House Aussie Kids series showcasing kids from all Australian states.
I was delighted to write a story set in my own backyard, and doubly delighted when Christina Booth agreed to do the illustrations. Such a simple idea; get authors and illustrators to create books set it their own states!
Dooley's cousin Sienna visits from the mainland and Dooley gets to realise his long-held ambition to spend the night in the barn. Needless to say, it's not without incident. Dooley shows his common sense and can-do attitude with game assistance from Sienna... who has quite got over her first notion that farms SMELL. Mind you, Jess the dog does, after she's been in the creek. Not to speak of the billygoat...
Dooley is named after Dooleys Hill, while is a real hill I can see from my window as I type this. Dooley will be available in September 2020.
